Philippe Coutinho ankle injury during Sunderland game

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has suffered an ankle injury during a game against Sunderland

Coutinho has suffered an ankle injury and had to been taken off on a stretcher against Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Sunderland. It is said that the Brazillian could have a ligament damage which would put him on the sidelines for quite a while.

Philippe Coutinho was challenged by Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong at the 33rd minute of the game and had to have his team-mate Divock Origi to replace him during the match.

Philippe has been playing fantastic for Liverpool this season and has been a very vital player for the team. If the Brazillian is injured it could jeopardize Liverpool’s title hopes this season.

According to Sky Sources, it is said that the Liverpool midfielder had left Anfield in crutches which won’t be the best news to hear for Liverpool.

Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp on the situation

Jurgen Klopp wasn’t too worried about the injury and didn’t want to make any speculations until he received the results from the ankle scan he stated: “We have to wait for the scan. What we know it is something with the ankle, He had pain. Pain gets better. In the first moment it was very painful, but at half-time, he said it was better. I am quite an optimistic guy.”

Klopp didn’t seem to believe Coutinho had a serious injury but does not want to say anything until he has received the news of the situation.
