2016 formula one world champion Nico Rosberg says that former Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton “walked all over him” in their four seasons of driving reign.
Three-time world champion Hamilton and Rosberg at Mercedes battled it out for the F1 championship title in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Hamilton aced Rosberg in both 2014 and 2015, a timeline where their partnership grew into one of the most feared on the race track. However, Rosberg stood his ground in 2016 and after an intense finale at Abu Dhabi clinched his first F1 championship. But soon after the sensational victory, the German driver shocked the racing world with his retirement.
Talking to the Daily Mail, Rosberg said that the anger is bigger if the person you know so well does something that crosses the line.
On asked about Hamilton, Rosberg said that Lewis is very good at going to the edge without going outside the grey area, thanks to his skills in the car. Rosberg admitted that Lew is a very smart man. He found it harder to go wheel-to-wheel against Lewis which for him came naturally.
For me it is more rational. I have to work at standing my ground. I got more aggressive because too often in the past he had walked all over me. I had to watch the videos and make improvements.
Rosberg spent 20 minutes each morning and evening meditating. He sat down and just thought of his thoughts, learned to relax his mind while practicing awareness and concentration to cope up with the stress
Williams’ Valtteri Bottas has filled the empty Rosberg’s seat at Mercedes and is ready zap the 2017 season.
