LSU Team News

LSU dropped a close 24-21 loss to Troy last week in Tiger Stadium. One of the takeaways from that loss was Danny Etling’s 17-of-25 passing for 198 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the final moments.

This LSU will be in their full strength on Saturday with the return of running back Derrius Guice and defensive end Rashard Lawrence back in the lineup. Guice, who was injured in the second half against Syracuse and missed the game against Troy has rushed for 314 yards through four games while Williams leads the team with 320 yards and 5.2 yards per carry.

Florida Team News

The Gators added their third straight win after the 38-24 victory over Vanderbilt last week. An incredible performance came from Feleipe Franks who replaced injured starter Luke Del Rio and led four scoring campaigns, including three for touchdowns in the second half for the victory against their Southeastern Conference East Division rival.

It seems now the Gators’ quarterback situation has been solved with redshirt freshman Franks ready to start heading into Saturday’s game against LSU. Veteran Del Rio is out for the season.

However, with Del Rio out the graduate transfer, Malik Zaire moves into the backup role. Gators could unleash the dual-threat Zaire later in the game on Saturday.

Freshman Tedarrell Slaton has shown signs of being Gators’ No.1 defensive lineman. He brought the crowd on their toes when he stopped Vanderbilt running back Ralph Webb in the backfield for a 2-yard loss. Slaton has made six tackles in four games and is getting better in the position with every game.
