Tour de France 2017, Stage 12 begins on July 13th, 2017 8:00 AM EST. The Route covers a distance of 214.5 km from the commune on the northern edge of the Pyrenees- Pau to the summit finish at Peyragudes. This is the second-longest stage of the race.
Germany’s Marcel Kittel is on fire after winning his fifth stage of the 104th Tour de France as he cruised through stage 11. Once again it was a close struggle between Kittel and Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen in the final meters and Kittel managed to push it to his limit bagged his 14th overall Tour win. Groenewegen finished second while Edvald Boasson Hagen closed third.
Britain’s Chris Froome notched his 51st “yellow jersey” and leads the overall race ahead of Italy’s Fabio Aru by 18 seconds.
Stage 12 is touted as the “marathon stage” which include four major climbs through its course. The peloton will encounter Col des Ares, col de Menté, Port de Balès and col de Peyresourde in the last 100km.
The winner of Stage 12 will be awarded at the altiport of the French Pyrenees; this is the same location where the James Bond series’ movie- Tomorrow Never Dies was filmed. Let’s hope Agent-007 also shows up at the venue.
