France’s Lilian Calmejane of team Direct Energie cruised to victory on stage 8 to Les Rousses in his first ever Tour de France. The 24-year-old, 37 seconds ahead of Robert Gesink. It was a very eventful race with top class contenders in the different breakaways but Chris Froome managed to retain the yellow jersey ahead of grueling climbs on the way to Chambéry.

Chris Froome still leads the race, flaunting the yellow jersey and Kettel has the green jersey.

stage 8 is unparalleled in the history of the Tour de France. It features three steep climbs- Col de la Biche (doe), Grand Colombier and Mont du Chat (cat) to be experienced on the French soil. The peloton will face Col de la Biche only 60km after the start in Nantua.
