The Pittsburgh Penguins lost Game 3 to Nashville due to their lacking ability to capitalize on power-play. They are 1-for-13 with four shots on goal in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Nashville Predators. The Pens were 0-for-3 with one shot on goal in a 5-1 loss in Game 3 on Saturday. Also, they were 0-for-7, smashing just two shots in Game 2.
Penguins goaltender Matt Murray allowed five goals for the first time in 28 career postseason games.
Nick Bonino, who missed Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Nashville Predators due to a lower-body injury took part in Pens practice on Sunday at Bridgestone Arena and is hopeful of play in game 4.
For the Predators, Roman Josi scored the first goal in the second period, and Frederick Gaudreau and James Neal each added two more goals in the period to give Nashville a 3-1 lead. Craig Smith and Mattias Ekholm scored in the third period as the Preds won their first ever home final.
Predators goalie Pekka Rinne gave up a goal on the second shot of Game 3 but was unpenetrable after that as he captured his first victory in the Stanley Cup Final. Rinne, who had conceded eight goals in five-plus periods against Pittsburgh this series, made 27 saves of 28 shots in game 3.
