Andy Murray has tried his hands on the greatest courts on his route to becoming World No.1 this season. However, it’s certain an Abu Dhabi motorway won’t count in as one of those stages.
The 29-year-old is preparing to play at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. It is an exhibition event in the United Arab Emirates starting on December 29.
Ahead of the tournament, Murray was asked to knock the ball about with fellow tennis superstar Rafael Nadal World No.2 in offbeat surroundings.
The Scot and his Spanish rival, who were involved in the launch of the event, took part in a warm-up with the picturesque location of Al Maryah Island behind them.
The two big cats, perhaps participating in the event were photographed knocking the ball out in the open.
It was included in the official players’ launch for the Mubadala exhibition event in Abu Dhabi since 2009.
Nadal won the competition for a third time in his career a year ago. While two-time champ Murray will hope to duplicate that feat this year.
Furthermore, joining Nadal and Murray at the Abu Dhabi competition is World No.3 Milos Raonic, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, David Goffin and Tomas Berdych.
Moreover, Murray has been given a bye in the first round, which implies he will confront the victor of Tsonga vs. Goffin on December 30 for a spot in the final. The final showdown will take place on Saturday.
After this occasion, Murray will then contend in the Qatar Open before flying on to Australia for the 2017 season-opening Grand Slam.
