Coyotes’ howl can be heard all over the season as after seven games they still remain winless and are now heading out on a five-game road trip. One of the reasons for their dire state is that this season’s roster lacks experience. Former captain Shane Doan, veteran goaltender Mike Smith are all out along with Head Coach Dave Tippet and Radim Vrbata.
Rick Tocchet at the helm and Derek Stepan, goalie Antti Raanta, defenseman Nicklas Hjalmarsson are running the team. Although all of them has yet to give a breakout performance. However, rookie Clayton Keller is making the news in the NHL scene as he leads the Coyotes in goals (6) and points (8). He leads all rookies and is tied for fifth in the league. Third-year forward Max Domi is playing a good support game with six assists thus far.
Winning three of their last four games, the Islanders Headed by Coach Doug owns a 6-0-1 advantage in their last seven home games against the Coyotes. They are coming off a 5-3 win over the Sharks when Anders Lee scored two goals and captain John Tavares gave his second three-point performance of the season.
Jaroslav Halak is slated to start at goal on Tuesday. In his last start, Halak made 38 saves in a 4-3 SO win over the New York Rangers. The Islanders has been experimentative in last few games as they tried 11 forwards and seven defensemen in those outings. Expect unusual a lineup on Tuesday as well.
