Arizona Coyotes Team News

Arizona enters the season with an almost makeover from last season, with a new coaching staff and to a total of eleven of the 23 players on the roster, who are slated to play their first game versus the Ducks on Thursday night.

Rick Tocchet will start the new era of the Coyotes with him as the head coach with a 53-69-26 record as an NHL head coach. Tocchet made some difficult decisions in the past summer.

The Coyotes revealed a five-member leadership group for the bout at Anaheim, that features Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Niklas Hjalmarsson as the fixed alternate captains. Derek Stepan, Brad Richardson, and Alex Goligoski will be rotating as the third alternate captain on a game-by-game basis.

Anaheim Ducks Team News

The Ducks also carry new faces in the lineup tonight, as the team won’t be having key playmakers Ryan Kesler, Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanen. All of them are recovering from offseason surgeries.

In addition, they will be without their No.1 best goal scorer- Patrick Eaves and their new backup goaltender- Ryan Miller.

Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf is also questionable for tonight’s game due to fitness issues. However, free-agent signing Derek Grant could make his Ducks debut against the Coyotes. The 27-year-old center was in rotation with Antoine Vermette in line rushes in Wednesday’s practice alongside Jared Boll and Ondrej Kase.
