The Panthers are coming off a blockbuster 33-30 win over New England Patriots last week. Cam Newton ran for a 7-yard TD throwing 316 yards in the win becoming the Panthers’ winningest all-time quarterback, surpassing Jake Delhomme.
Safeties Kurt Coleman and Demetrious Cox have been ruled out of the game along with center Ryan Kalil due to injuries. That means Colin Jones and new signing Jairus Byrd both may get some play time at safety alongside Mike Adams on Sunday.
Three players- left tackle Matt Kalil and defensive ends Mario Addison and Julius Peppers are tagged questionable against Detroit. However, Cornerback Daryl Worley and wide receiver Curtis Samuel both of whom missed last week’s game with injuries are expected to be back in the field.
The Lions stayed at the top of the NFC North after a 14-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. The Lions were down 7-3 at halftime in the game against the Vikings but a comeback which included three fumbles, three recoveries, and 11 points off the turnovers sealed the win for the Lions.
The Lions heading into Sunday’s clash against the Panthers have several injury concerns, including starting offensive linemen T.J. Lang and Rick Wagner, wide receiver Kenny Golladay and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata all are questionable for the game.
However, rookie linebacker Jarrad Davis will be making his return after missing two week’s play with a concussion.
