The 49ers are still looking for their first win of the season. They are coming off an 18-15 loss at Arizona. San Francisco has lost last three in points of difference of three or less telling us that the team has the fire to win but only lacks in execution.
Brian Hoyer led the passing game of the 49ers having completed 24-of-49 passes for 234 yards and an interception last week. But Hoyer is yet to give a breakout performance and a win to Colts. Will that change on Sunday?
Defensively, Ray-Ray Armstrong finished the game with 10 total tackles (eight solo). The promising young defense has done justice their roles thus far. However, with linebacker Reuben Foster (high ankle sprain) and strong safety Eric Reid (knee) ruled out of the Colts game it will be interesting how the unit reacts against the Colts on Sunday.
The Colts suffered their third loss of the season as they dropped a 46-18 game to the Seattle Seahawks last Saturday. The offensive line was without injured starting quarterback Andrew Luck and backup Jacoby Brissett went 14 of 20 passing for 142 yards with a touchdown pass against Seattle. Luck remains questionable for Sunday’s game meaning Brissett will get another chance to prove his mettle.
Colts tight end Jack Doyle (17 catches, 163 yards) is marked questionable for the game as well he is in the concussion protocol.
The Colts really have to work on their defensive power as it is the worst defense in the NFL, having allowed 34 points per game and yielding an average of 396.2 yards.
