Jacksonville Jaguars Team News

Rookie wide receiver Dede Westbrook,  who led the NFL in receiving during the preseason is out of the Jaguars’ 2017 regular-season opener against the Houston Texans. Westbrook was absent in Friday’s practice because of a core muscle injury.

Veteran Patrick Omameh is set to start at left guard against the Texans. The starting running back position is still unclear with rookie Leonard Fournette, Chris Ivory, and T.J. Yeldon frontrunners for the spot.

Yeldon (hamstring) and free safety Tashaun Gipson (ankle) are questionable of play on Sunday.

Houston Texans Team News

Defensive end J.J. Watt will be back to action for his first regular season game since Week 3 of last year. The three-time Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year was out with a back injury.

Tom Savage is slated to play under center, he can provide the required offensive tempo. Also, running back Lamar Miller will there to take care of the offensive backfield. Rookie running back Leonard Fournette can play his debut later into the game.

Duane Brown won’t be in the lineup on Sunday against the Jaguars. As a result, Third-year player Kendall Lamm gets the start in Brown’s place.
