The Grizzlies captured their second game of the season with a 111-101 win over the reigning champion Warriors on Saturday. Center Marc Gasol gave an incredible 34-point performance playing 36 minutes for the win. Four other players scored double-digits: James Ennis III (13), Tyreke Evans (10), and Mario Chalmers (12). Point guard Mike Conley has to play more significant role as he notched just 10 points on 3-for-14 shooting against the Warriors
The Grizzlers is averaging seven steals and over nine per game. And they will seek to maintain their defensive strength heading Monday against one of the dangerous offensive powers in the league of the Rockets.
Memphis will be without Ben McLemore ( Right Foot), Wayne Selden Jr. (Quad), and JaMychal Green(Left Ankle) in Monday’s big clash.
The Rockets have improved to 3-0 in the season as they pulled off a near death win against Warriors in the opener. Then limited the Sacramento in the next, and then sailed through easy victory 91- 107 victory over in-state rival Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
Offseason acquisition Chris Paul, who missed in the victories over the Kings and Dallas Mavericks remain sidelined for Monday’s game but the defense seems to be well without him so far. The defensive unit is allowing 104 per game that should do the job with James Harden in the offensive lineup. Harden is averaging 27 points per game in the season, he scored 29 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and added 7 assists in the win over the Mavs.
