San Antonio Spurs Team News

The Spurs opened their season without their leading scorer Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker. But their absence was hardly felt as the team posted a 107-99 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Wednesday’s victory. He has to keep this playing pace alive for the Spurs until Leonard and Parker come back to the lineup. Leonard is out with right quadriceps injury while Parker is slated to be out until mid-November as he is undergoing surgery on his left quadriceps tendon.

Danny Green is another player that the offense depends on after he scored 17 points against Minnesota while offseason signing Rudy Gay finished with 14 points and five rebounds.

Chicago Bulls Team News

Following a 117-100 loss to the Toronto Raptors in their season opener on Thursday, the Bulls are ready for their first home game on Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Bulls are injury struck and will be without key playmakers Nikola Mirotic (facial fractures), Denzel Valentine (knee), and forward Bobby Portis, who will be serving eight games suspension for punching Mirotic, who suffered facial fractures and a concussion in the in-team fight. Also, long time absentees guards- Zach LaVine (knee), Kris Dunn (left index finger) and Cameron Payne (foot) remain sidelined.

Pressure will be on center Robin Lopez, who scored 18 points against Toronto. Rookie Lauri Markkanen could play big again as he notched  17 points and eight rebounds in his NBA debut.
