The Nuggets opening win saw an exceptional performance from newcomer Paul Millsap. Millsap finished the game with 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in 25 minutes of play. The free agent acquisition was netting from all over the court, especially from beyond the arc, from where Millsap notched 4-of-6 shots.

Another player who stood out was Emmanuel Mudiay, notching 19 points and six assists in 28 minutes off the bench, the third year senior made 6-of-10 shots overall, including 3-of-4 from the 3-point line.

Three other Nuggets scored double figures: Mason Plumlee posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds; Nikola Jokić made 12 points and six rebounds, and Will Barton bagged 10 points and five rebounds.

Much will be expected of Millsap against Lakers on Monday night as he meets other young and inexperienced but deadly Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma.

Although Lakers lost the preseason opener it experienced the power of rookies Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma in the game. The two stars of the Lakers’ Summer League title team continued their terrific form into their preseason debut. Ball was unparalleled in the passing game making eight assists but limited his offensive skills to just nine field goal attempts. Kuzma, meanwhile explored into his offensive capabilities finishing the night with a team-high 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Fans will be rooting out for both the young guns again on Monday this time at the home court.

Brook Lopez and Andrew Bogut remain sidelined due to injuries giving an opportunity to the Lakers crew of youngsters to fill the center spot as well.
