Blue Jays are coming off a 2-2 series split to the Astros before the 5-days rest.
Right-hander Aaron Sanchez (0-2, 4.85 ERA) is ready to begin the second half-season spell for the Blue Jays as they take on the Tigers on Friday night at Comerica Park. The first half didn’t go that well for Sanchez due to a blister on his right finger which held him to just six starts. In his last start prior to the break, he gave up eight runs, including five earned on seven hits and four walks in a loss to the Astros.
Before the ALL-STAR break, Tigers lost a 2-1 series to the Cleveland Indians.
It will be the 2016 AL Cy Young Award runner-up Justin Verlander (5-6, 4.73 ERA) making the start as the Tigers begin their second half of the season. Verlander, who is going with the highest WHIP (1.52) of his career takes the ball against the Blue Jays Friday night.
