Texas Rangers Team News

After winning eight-game homestand and picking up a ninth straight victory the Rangers travel to Detroit for a three-game series against the Tigres. The Right-hander Nick Martinez (0-2, 5.04 ERA in five starts) takes the pitch Friday in the series opener. Martinez is winless in his last 11 starts, which goes back to August 2015, a period that’s tied for the fourth longest drought among all starters in the Majors.

Rangers will be without four-time All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre, who has yet to play this season and four-time All-Star pitcher Cole Hamels, who went on the disabled list earlier this month due to a strained right oblique.

Detroit Tigers Team News

Detroit’s have won last two homestand games against the Orioles and will continue this weekend with a visit from the Texas Rangers, starting with a clash on Friday at Comerica Park. Daniel Norris (2-2, 4.34 ERA)  makes the start for Detroit in hope of his first win since the start of this month.

On the other hand, Tigers offense side will try to get going without injured Cabrera and Victor Martinez, who is on a paternity leave.

Tigers’ slugger Miguel Cabrera may miss the series due to a left oblique strain.
