Bellator 172: Josh Thomson will fight Patricky Freire in the co-main event

American Mixed martial artists Josh Thomson will face Patricky Freire in the co-main event of Bellator 172 on Feb. 18 at SAP Center, San Jose.

Thomson, who holds a record of 22-8 in his MMA career missed out all of 2016 fights due to injuries, Thomson will make his comeback for the proposed fight.

His last fight at Bellator 147 was against Pablo Villaseca which Thomson won by a second-round TKO in December 2015. “The Punk” Thomson was supposed to fight two-time Bellator champion Michael Chandler last May but stepped down due to injury. The 38-year-old Thomson has made a name for himself in the MMA’s lightweight category. Moreover, he had taken out big names like Nate Diaz (in Knockout of the Night), Gilbert Melendez, and Duane Ludwig.

On the other corner, Patricky Freire has a 16-8 record in his MMA career.

At the Bellator 157: Dynamite 2 “Pitbull” Freire was Punched out in the first round by Michael Chandler in a clash for the vacant lightweight title. But in his previous, two fights of the year 2016, Freire won. One by Unanimous Decision against Kevin Souza and the other against Ryan Couture by KO.

Bellator 172 is headlined by a heavyweight bout between the Russian” The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko and Former NFL player Matt Mitrione.
