Former Olympic wrestler and UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier announced that he’d face Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 on Saturday, April 8th in Buffalo.
Cormier racks a record 18 wins and one loss in his MMA career.
Cormier and Johnson will face off for the second time. In 2015 at UFC 187, Johnson dropped a strong right punch at Cormier in the first round. But Cormier went on to win the next two rounds. Eventually, he made Johnson submit by rear naked choke to become the new UFC Light Heavyweight champion.
In 2016, Cormier stepped down from his rematch against Jon Jones at UFC 197, and then Jones was found positive in his pre-fight USADA drug test in the re-scheduled fight at UFC 200. However, Cormier fought Anderson Silva at that event and won by unanimous decision. His last defense of his title happened in 2015 UFC 192 against Alexander Gustafsson. Moreover, Cormier pulled off a close split decision win in that match.
Johnson got 22 wins to his name with five losses. In 2016, he won two straight bouts by knockout. First, he took out Ryan Bader in the UFC on Fox in 1 min 26 seconds. Then he destroyed Glover Teixeira in just thirteen seconds at UFC 202.
UFC 210 will also see former Middleweight champion Chris Weidman take on Gegard Mousasi.
