God Save the Queen: Teenager wins UK’s first-ever WWE Championship

WWE Championship

19-year-old Tyler Bate took down Pete Dunne, 23, to become the first-ever WWE UK Champion.

Triple H crowned the teenager Bate, from Dudley in the West Midlands, as the historic event came to an end.

The tournament took place in Blackpool’s famous Empress Ballroom. Bate beat fellow Brummie and the man who had a hand in training him, Dunne, in the tournament’s last round.

Bate had to conquer the opposition of Jordan Devlin and Wolfgang in his quarter and semi-finals before going into the showdown against Dunne.

Even with an injured shoulder because of Dunne’s savage attack Bate went on to win the final.

At 19 years old, who doesn’t think @Tyler_Bate is the future of this industry? Congratulations!- Triple H posted on Twitter.

The action-packed 16-man, two-day tournament concluded with Bate winning over the ‘Bruiserweight’ Dunne in front of a packed crowd in Blackpool for the 1-2-3 countdown.

Present and past British wrestling legends William Regal, Fit Finlay and Finn Balor stepped inside the ring to present Bate with the title.

Bate despite his age has competed in hundreds of fight in U.K and elsewhere.

Addressing the crowd after the bout, Bate, said that the people who really deserve this are all of you people.
