Ambrose achieved his second career Intercontinental championship by overthrowing ‘The Miz’ in the main event of “SmackDown Live.”

The Miz, a six-time holder of the title, hit Ambrose with his patented “skull-crushing finale“. Furthermore, he even hit Dean with the title belt itself over the course of the match. In retaliation, Ambrose hit “dirty deeds” to pick up the pinfall victory. This is Dean’s fourth title win since debuting in the WWE in November 2012. Ambrose’s previous Intercontinental championship reign kept running from December 2015 through February 2016.

The Miz held the belt for 49 days during this, his latest run with the Intercontinental Championship. He even had two shorter governs with this title, which both lasted a single day in 2012 and 2014, respectively. Moreover, he took over this title by defeating Dolph Ziggler on “SmackDown Live” on Nov. 15 last year.

Both Ambrose and The Miz are former WWE world champions. However, The Miz is one of the handfuls who has become a “grand slam” champion. Miz has won the WWE world championship, the United States Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and one of the WWE tag team championships as well.

Never ever leave your wife in a fighting ring folks!

A rematch is on the card. Hopefully, The Miz will leave his wife Maryse in the ring to face Ambrose like in this match.

Maryse slapped Ambrose inside the ring first, later found Ambrose’s girlfriend Young backstage and landed a second withering slap, warning Young never to touch The Miz again. Maryse slapped Ambrose once again outside the ring after which she was ejected from ringside. Soon after this drama, Ambrose reversed The Miz’s Skull-Crushing Finale into Dirty Deeds to take the Intercontinental title.
