Idris Elba currently has an extremely jam-packed filming schedule. The actor has been reported to be in talks to replace Will Smith in the upcoming sequel of “Suicide Squad.”
Elba is set to appear in the movie “Three Thousand Years of Longing,” directed by George Miller.
The 46-year-old performer will also star in the upcoming Netflix presentation titled, “Turn Up Charlie.”
Elba’s acting stint for the BBC show, “Luther,” is also on-going as he continues to portray the role of a detective who is investigating the most horrendous offenses.
The London-born star is also presently working on the “Cats” screenplay adaptation alongside director Tom Hooper.Elba will play as Macavity, the Mystery Cat.
Together with action stars Jason Statham and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Elba will also appear in “The Fast and the Furious: Hobbs and Shaw.”
What makes 2019 more hectic for the actor-DJ is the upcoming movie, “Suicide Squad 2” which will be written and directed by “Guardians of the Galaxy” filmmaker, James Gunn.
He has been tapped to replace Smith who himself is also occupied with plenty of movie projects this year.
Elba will play the role of Deadshot, a tremendously skilled sniper. He will lead the horde of unruly super-villains who begrudgingly rescues Planet Earth.
The filming of “Suicide Squad 2” has been reported to commence in September. Its distributor, Warner Brothers, is targeting a release date set on August 6, 2021.
In recent years, Elba has appeared in various films including three “Thor” movies in which he played as the golden-eyed Heimdall: “Thor” in 2011, “Thor: The Dark World” in 2013, and “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017.
In addition, the British Hollywood star also voice-acted for animated movies like “Zootopia,” “Finding Dory,” and “The Jungle Book.”
Elba can be vividly remembered as playing the troubled husband of Beyoncé Knowles in the successful box office 2009 thriller, “Obsessed.”
