This year’s Oscar Awards ceremony has got some Hollywood celebrities wowed by Queen + Adam Lambert’s rousing tribute to the late Freddie Mercury’s immortal music.
In the side of the audience, Hollywood luminaries such as Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez, and Viola Davis could be seen blobbing their heads, dancing, and singing along Queen’s acclaimed songs like “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You.”
Queen + Adam Lambert have been the introductory act selected by the organizers of the host-less 91stAcademy Awards.
On Sunday night at Hollywood’s iconic Dolby Theatre, the collaborative singing group featured Lambert and the surviving original members of Queen like lead guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor opening the annual awards show.
Queen + Adam Lambert performed the medley featured in the successful blockbuster biopic, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
The movie released in November last year is nominated for five Oscar prizes and has raked in $213 million in the United States and $861 million worldwide, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.
Among these Oscar recognitions include the Best Actor prize for Rami Malekfor portraying the famous Queen frontman who passed away in 1991 after succumbing to AIDS.
Lambert apparently left the audience spellbound by his powerful rendition of a selection of Queen’s songs. He has been a component of Queen + Adam Lambert since 2011.
The group, which has been based in Las Vegas, Nevada, has been performing on shows and going on international concert tours.
The 2009 American Idol season eight runner-up has shared his perspectives of serving as a Freddie Mercury substitute.
Lambertrelayed that he is not really interested to perfectly mimic the undyingly famous rock star.
He cited that he works with Queen to ensure that their commercially successful songs live on forever.
The versatile Lambert, who is capable of reaching the lofty ranges of Mercury’s singing voice, also shared that he learned more about the humorous personality of Queen’s lead singer from the band’s surviving members.
Wearing a dazzling turquoise jacket with black trousers and a black necktie topping a black shirt, Lambert mentioned that rocking the introductory portion of this year’s Oscars is certainly a dream-come-true for him.
