5 Golden Globes Nominations to Boost Lady Gaga's Acting Career

Lady Gaga’s aspiration to become an actress is given massive support as she and her film, “A Star Is Born,” received several Golden Globe nominations tonight.

The “Born This Way” singer is a huge contender for the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama at this year’s Golden Globe Awards.

In the Warner Brothers Pictures movie, Lady Gaga plays Ally Campana, a nightclub singer-songwriter, who turns into a protégé of Jackson “Jack” Maine.

Maine is also a singer and songwriter in the movie whose musical career was already waning. His character is portrayed by Bradley Cooper who is also on his directorial debut for “A Star is Born.”

In the film, Campana is educated by Maine as her alcoholic mentor. Her love interest in the movie also helps her achieve superstardom status.

“A Star is Born” is a remake of the 1937 classic movie which has been remade four times already. In 1954, it featured the famous “The Wizard of Oz” star, Judy Garland, for which she received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress.

In tonight’s Golden Globes ceremony, the movie is competing for the Best Motion Picture – Drama accolade against other films like “Black Panther,” “BlacKkKlansman,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “If Beale Street Could Talk.”

“A Star Is Born” boosts Lady Gaga’s acting career agenda. Besides the film getting the Best Motion Picture – Drama nomination and herself for the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama award, “Shallow,” the theme for the film has been nominated and won Best Original Song – Motion Picture recognition.

Bradley Cooper is also nominated for the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama and the Best Director – Motion Picture awards.

In total, this year’s Golden Globes is honoring the film five times. In 2016, Lady Gaga bagged the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Mini-Series or Television Film for “American Horror Story: Hotel.”

The fashion icon is at this year’s Golden Globes ceremony wearing a periwinkle Cinderella-inspired gown by Valentino.

Although media reports remarked that her dress resembled Garland’s lavender evening gown in the 1954 rendition of “A Star Is Born,” the 32-year-old New York native affirmed that she did not intend to copy the look.

The singer-actress, who was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in Manhattan, New York City, recently shared that she had always wanted to become an actress, besides being a musical performer.

Since she struggled at first, she said that she “went for it as a musician.” Lady Gaga also revealed that she enjoyed making “A Star Is Born.”

She cited that she learned the concept of alchemy in which she found herself portraying a movie character while at the same time actually becoming that role.

Lady Gaga thanked “A Star Is Born” director Cooper who she credited for that lesson. This year’s 76th Golden Globe Awards is currently underway at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Presented by “Grey’s Anatomy” actress, Sandra Oh, and The Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg, winners are selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
