San Diego State pulled off a 90-73 blockbuster victory over No. 22 Nevada Wolf Pack in the conference semifinals on Friday night. Devin Watson led the team with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and two assists while Jalen McDaniels continued his amazing form with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Senior forward Malik Pope added 14 points in the win. The team looks well balanced and their strength lies in the 3-point area.

The Aztecs will be playing their fourth championship game in five years but they have failed to win the title since 2011. Speaking of the stats,  they bring the highest winning percentage in Mountain West tournament history of (.674) with Friday’s win. The Aztecs will hope to continue their postseason dominance in Saturday’s clash.

No.3 seed, the Lobos have proved their mettle this season. After Joe Furstinger’s mind-blowing career-high 23 points helped New Mexico for an 85-75 win over Wyoming, they thrashed Utah State Aggies 83-68 in the semifinal on Friday. Troy Simons led the team with 17 points.

New Mexico are in great form, they have won their last seven games.  Anthony Mathis and  Sam Logwood are leading the Lobos’ scoring arsenal with 13 ppg each.

The odds favour the Lobos to a little extent as in the sole clash against the Aztecs this season, the Lobos have posted a close 79-75 win.

The winner looks of this match get the league’s automatic bid to play in the NCAA Tournament.
