After back-to-back road wins, the University of Delaware football team opened their Homecoming with a thrilling 42-35 double-overtime win over No. 11 Richmond at Delaware Stadium last Saturday. Junior wide receiver Jamie Jarmon stood out in the game scoring three touchdowns as he rushed four times for 103 yards and caught three passes for 41 yards.
Delaware enters Saturday’s game ranked in the top half of the CAA mostly in every defensive category. They are allowing just 17.0 points per game (No. 4 in CAA/No. 11 in NCAA) and are forcing 17 turnovers.
The Tigers has now skidded to 2-5 on the season as they lost their fourth consecutive game in last week’s 40-17 blow at No. 18 New Hampshire. Notable performances in the loss came from Kobe Young, who led the ground game with 63 yards on nine carries, Shane Leatherbury, who caught six passes for 35 yards, and Sam Gallahan who made four catches for 79 yards and a touchdown.
As the first half of the season meet its end, Towson failed to progress on both sides of the ball. They enter the week ranked last in the CAA in rushing offense (91.1 yards per game) and scoring offense (12.7 points per game).
Towson will try to take cover behind their defensive unit on Saturday. Defensive lineman Kanyia Anderson who notched a sack and a 93-yard fumble return for a touchdown in last week’s loss will be the player to watch out in the Tigers sqaud.
