Buffalo Team News

The Bulls are coming off a 24-14 loss to Miami RedHawks at Yager Stadium last Saturday. After a shaky start with two losses, the Bulls seemed to be on the right track after winning the following three games. But thereafter began a three-game losing streak for a 3-5 overall in the season and 1-3 in the MAC.

Buffalo is struggling with their QB position as they used the third player for the job into the season. True freshman quarterback Kyle Vantrease making his first career start for the Bulls finished the game against Miami 17-of-41 for 202 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

Buffalo has Anthony Johnson leading its receiving corp, he had five catches for 56 yards against Miami and is the best in MAC and ranks fourth in the nation with 827 receiving yards on the season. Another star in the team is Khalil Hodge, who leads the nation in tackles, averaging 14.4 tackles per game. The junior linebacker made 14 tackles last week taking his season total to 115. However, even with these two part of the Buffalo lineup, the team is struggling to convert individual efforts into team wins. Saturday’s game against the Zips is a must-win for Buffalo if they want to stay alive for the playoff race.

Akron Team News

Akron 4-4 into the season and 3-1 in the MAC dropped a 48-21 game at Toledo last Saturday. Senior QB Thomas Woodson led the offense completing 18-of-33 for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Woodson has thrown for 1,456 yards and 11 touchdowns thus far in the season.

The team lacks in no experience with senior WR Tra’Von Chapman taking care of the receiving end while senior RB Manny Morgan in the rushing department.

It will be an equal fight against the Bulls although both offensively and defensively, the Zips are considerately behind them. But consistency is what the Zips have shown in their last three of four games, which they will hopefully bring again on Saturday.
