The Mountaineers improve to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in Sun Belt after they posted a 37-29 victory over Coastal Carolina last week.  Taylor Lamb slaughtered through the Chanticleers defense completing 23 of his 39 pass attempts for 427 yards and 2 touchdowns setting an Appalachian State record for most career touchdown passes of 76. Marcus Williams Jr. rushed for 72 yards collecting a pair of touchdowns on 15 carries for the win.

The dual-threat quarterback Lamb is throwing 60.7 percent (125-for-206) for 1624 yards and 13 touchdowns over seven games. The offensive unit is racking up 418 yards for 29.7 points per game while the defense is allowing 355.5 yards for 21.6 points per game.

Massachusetts Team News

The Minutemen had a sigh of relief as they captured their first win of the season, defeating Georgia Southern 55-20 last weekend. Bilal Ally ran for 116 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns while quarterback Ross Comis threw for three touchdowns for the win. Finally, a strong performance came out of Marquis Young, who ran for 101 yards and a touchdown for the Minutemen. Defensively, the Minutemen recorded an interception and forced four fumbles against Georgia Southern.

Being 1-6 in the season but just considering the stats, the UMass is doing quite well on both sides of the ground. The offensive unit is racking up 449.3 yards of total offense for 29.9 points per game while the defensively, they are allowing 392.3 yards for 31 points per game.
