West Virginia Team News

The Mountaineers improved 4-2 in the season after they pulled off a come-from-behind 46-35 win against Texas Tech last week. Quarterback Will Grier threw for 352 yards and five touchdowns for the win.

Grier playing for the first time for West Virginia has now thrown for at least 300 yards in every game and have completed 151 of 230 passes (65.6 percent) for 2,092 yards, with 21 touchdowns and five interceptions. Bolstering the Virginia offense is running back Justin Crawford who is averaging 101.5 rushing yards per game, with seven touchdowns.

On the defensive front, West Virginia is allowing 27.8 points and 453.8 yards per game and is led by Al-Rasheed Benton with 52 tackles.

Speaking of the stats, it should be an easy win for the Mountaineers on Saturday.

Baylor Team News

Baylor(0-6) still looking for their first win of the season were near to a victory last week against Oklahoma State. The Bears suffered a 49-41 loss but Baylor fought the No. 3 Sooners for longer than most critics expected.

Sophomore QB Zach Smith still needs to tune up in his play as he only completed 11 of 28 passes for 127 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. Smith was replaced by freshman Charlie Brewer later into the game but even him didn’t play that better. Smith is expected to start again on Saturday against West Virginia.

Baylor defense has been struggling through six week’s of play as they are placed at the 125th spot out of 129 teams in college football total defense rankings, giving up 517.7 yards per game. The defense allowed 747 yards last week against Oklahoma State.
