It’s not unknown to anyone that the defense of Clemson is one of the best, if not the best, in the tournament. The Clemson Tigers come with a spectacular 17 sacks, tying for the second place nationally. Players like Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, Clelin Ferrell, and Austin Bryant are really powerful in their positions. They, along with intelligent blocking, will ensure that Virginia Tech finds it hard to breach into their ranks.
To further complement their skills, the Tigers are really good with moving the ball. 272 yards per game. That’s something now. Kelly Bryant rushed 268 yards. He also has 7 touchdowns, the best in the team. The 17 rushing touchdowns from Clemson tie them for the second place nationally.
Virginia Tech will be banking on its great offense. Travon McMillian (running back) will most probably be replacing Steven Peoples (ankle injury). With 142 yards along with a touchdown against East Carolina, we can say he is a promising addition to the match against Clemson.
Mook Reynolds is the next player you should be looking at. Reynolds has 32 tackles, 3 quarterback hurries, and 4 tackles for a loss. He is quite versatile, as he sometimes plays linebacker while sometimes nickelback.
To fight Clemson’s running of the ball, the key player the Hokies have is Vinny Mihota. Mihota doesn’t have spectacular stats, but he goes about his business very seriously and quietly. He will be very important for the Hokies defensive line.
And of course, there are the usual players from Virginia Tech that will be playing their great game as well.
