Elon Phoenix Team News

The Phoenix offense saw junior running back Malcolm Summers running for a career-best 178 yards on 30 carries in last Saturday’s win over the Bucs. The offensive line is filled with experience: Ikenna Nwokeji, CJ Toogood, and Oli Udoh all started in the 11 games of the 2016 season.

The defense seems to be in tune as well so far in the season. On Saturday, all eyes will be on senior defensive back Chris Blair who needs just six tackles to become the 10th player in school history to pass the 300-tackle limit for his career.

Richmond Spiders Team News

The 68 points mark in last week’ win over the Bison is the most by a Spider offense against a Division I contender. So the Spiders will be dependent on their offense on Saturday. Sophomore running back Jay Palmer ran for 102 yards on the ground making a catch for six yards and a pair of touchdowns in that win.

The defensive side is led by LB Dale Matthews, who made just three tackles, contributing half a sack and two interceptions but initiated the zeal to win early into the game.
