Western Illinois will travel to Arizona this weekend for the second game of the 2017 season on Saturday against Northern. The game will be televised nationally on Fox College Sports Pacific and can be watched online live on FuboTV.
This will be the third all-time meeting. The Leathernecks holds a 2-1 lead. NAU suffered a 34-20 loss to Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill last season.

The Leathernecks are coming off season-opening game 41-14 victory against Football Championship Subdivision opponents at Tennessee Tech.
Junior linebacker Quentin Moon made 10 tackles, including a career-high 3.5 in that loss and picked an honorable Mention in the ‘National Defensive Player of the Week’ by STATS.
Illinois has at least five players with more than 20 starting experience led by senior James Torgerson with 31 career starts followed by Brett Taylor(28 starts). However, these experiences didn’t count if they can’t get any wins.
The Lumberjack suffered a 62-24 loss to Arizona Saturday night. NAU stacked up 562 yards of total offense, threw for 377 and rushed for 185,
Junior Cory Young made his presence felt in his debut as he rushed 115 yards on only 11 carries, averaging 10.5 yards per carry, making two touchdowns in the opener against Arizona.
On the defensive lineup, junior safety Kam’ron Johnson had a career-high eight tackles in his first career start. Senior linebacker
Senior linebacker Byron Evans and junior linebacker Jake Casteel recorded five tackles each, while Casteel bagged NAU’s only sack against the Wildcats.
