Tulane fought their way to a 43-14 season-opening win over Grambling State last Saturday at Yulman Stadium. Green wave accounted for 481 total offensive yards in that win.

In his debut at Tulane, junior quarterback Jonathan Banks made a statement with four touchdowns, passed for three and rushed for another, to give the Green Wave (1-0) to the early advantage. He went 10-for-15 passing for 185 yards and rushed 16 times for 69 yards.

Also, another Junior, wide receiver Terren Encalade gave an impressive performance scoring twice, he caught a 30-yard touchdown pass and rushed 58 yards for another.

Tulane looks to be a balanced team but things will clear when they take on a stronger Navy this Saturday.

Navy is coming off a 42-19 victory over Florida Atlantic in the season opener when junior quarterback Zach Abey rushed for 235 yards making two touchdowns on 32 carries while throwing for 110 yards and a touchdown to lead Navy

Abey has been named American Athletic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for that brilliant performance.

Senior linebacker Micah Thomas and Senior outside linebacker Jerry Thompson also were in form in the opener and will lead the defense again on Saturday.
