The Jackrabbits defeated Duquesne, 51-13 in their season opener, backed by four touchdowns from All-America wide receiver Jake Wieneke at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The offensive lineup racked up impressive 600 yards.
Junior quarterback Taryn Christion threw a 57-yard pass to wide receiver Adam Anderson down the middle of the field the first touch down of the game. Three plays later, Christion found Wieneke in the right back corner of the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown.
Montana State suffered a nightmarish 31-0 decision loss at Washington State last weekend to open their season.
The Bobcats’ defensive side was led by senior Bryson McCabe, who made 13 tackles and Brayden Konko had 11.
Montana State carries a young squad into the home portion of the 2017 season. Seven seniors will start for the Bobcats on Saturday, however, less is expected of them as 20 players who had played first two seasons in the program failed to perform at Washington State last week.
