This will be the 13th all time meeting between the two teams with State holding a 9-3 advantage. Further, this is just the second meeting between the two teams in Ruston in the first, LA Tech won 22-14 in the 2008 season opener.

MSU posted a 49-0 win over Charleston Southern marking a historic defensive performance to open the 2017 season. MSU made a school record for the fewest yards allowed per play (0.7) in that win.
Running back duo of true freshman Kylin Hill and junior Aeris Williams gave an impressive performance. Hill ran with ball nine times for 62 yards, averaging 6.9 yards per rush, while Williams piled up 83 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
Braxton Hoyett was seen practice and is expect to play in Saturday’s game while Malik Dear still remains sidelined
Louisiana Tech’s high-powered offense resulted in a 52-24, win over Northwestern State in the season opener.
In the defensive, giving up 386 total yards, Tech forced three turnovers and converted all to touchdowns. The defensive line is led by its best player, tight end Jaylon Ferguson.
Tech offensive still needs improvement quarterback J’Mar Smith went 18-35 for 276 yards with 10 rushes for 72 yards, but he fumbled twice. He has to do more if wants to be the poster boy of the Tech’s offensive line
