The Bulldogs won their opening game of the NCAA tournament against 16 seed South Dakota State 66-46 Thursday night.

Jordan Mathews led the Bulldogs with 16 points in that win.

Przemek Karnowski added 10 points, which saw three back-to-back baskets for the Bulldogs to extend the lead to 20 in the final moments.

Northwestern Team News

In their first-ever NCAA Tournament trip in the school’s history, the Wildcats defeated Vanderbilt, 68-66, in the first round Thursday.

Bryant McIntosh converted 10 of his 16 shots from the field and scored a game-high 25 points for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats’ Dererk Pardon added a double-double while scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds.
