The Gophers will mark their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance today and their first game under head coach Richard Pitino.

Pitino pulled off one of college basketball’s biggest turnarounds of the season, going from an 8-23 team to one that finished 24-9 and has won nine of its last 11 games entering the NCAA Tournament.

Senior guard Akeem Springs, the team’s fifth-leading scorer, and the top 3-point shooter is out due to an Achilles tendon injury.

The Blue Riders have now made into the NCAA tournament the last five seasons, and its No. 12 seed is the second highest in program history.

Middle Tennessee has won 20 of its last 21 games and enters today’s game with a 10-game winning streak.

JaCorey Williams, the Conference USA Player and Newcomer of the Year and All-Conference USA first team member, tops the team in scoring with 17.3 points per game and in rebounding (7.3). Giddy Potts, the C-USA Tournament MVP averages 15.8 points along with 5.5 rebounds and leads the team with 74 made 3-pointers and 46 steals.
