No. 3 seed in the West Region Florida State Seminoles (25-8 ACC) is pitted against 14 seed (26-7 A-Sun) in-state rival Florida Gulf Coast in the First Round of NCAA Tournament at Amway Center in Orlando on Thursday at 9:20 p.m.

TNT will be covering the national telecast with Ian Eagle (play-by-play), Steve Lavin (analysis) and Evan Washburn(sideline reporter) calling the action.

The winner of the game will face the winner of the Xavier vs. Maryland on Saturday in the same venue.

The Seminoles’ marks the 15th time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and fifth time under head coach Leonard Hamilton tonight.

The Seminoles were the No. 2 seed as they entered the ACC Tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn last week. Florida State defeated Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals but lost to Notre Dame in the semifinals of the tournament.

Sophomore guard Dwayne Bacon, who was selected to the All-ACC Second Team leads the Seminoles in scoring with 16.8 points per game and in 3-point shots made with 57 3FG.

The No. 14 seed for the Eagles is the highest in their history and are tied for the second-highest seed attained by any ASUN Conference team in the last 16 years.

The Eagles won its first deservingly ASUN regular-season championship with a 12-2 mark after a mindblowing 2nd half to defeat North Florida, 77-61 and sealed its third NCAA Tournament berth in five years last Sunday.

Further, the Eagles have won 19 of their last 21 games.

Brandon Goodwin seems to be the lucky charm for the team he leads with 18.1 points per game.
